Would follow unexpected beta 6 release last week
Apple will release iOS beta 7 to developers later today, sources tell BGR. The timeframe is the same as BGR originally predicted for beta 6, which ended up being seeded late last Thursday instead. Because beta 6 was an emergency bugfix, however, Apple appears to have just shifted version numbers around.
Beta 7 should reach developers around 1PM Eastern, the regular timing for new iOS betas. The code is allegedly already in the hands of Apple's partners, who normally get an advance on the developer community.
What beta 7 might contain hasn't been leaked, but Apple is unlikely to make any major feature additions. The gold master for iOS 7 is anticipated on or around September 5th, just a few days before a rumored iPhone event on the 10th. If everything goes as expected, iOS 7 could reach the public sometime in mid-September, paving the way for a late-month iPhone launch.
