Intuos Creative Stylus gives iPad 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity

updated 10:16 pm EDT, Mon August 19, 2013

New pen uses Bluetooth 4.0 for communication to compatible apps

In its second product announcement today, Wacom introduced a pressure-sensitive digital pen, the Intuos Creative Stylus, for sketching, drawing and painting on newer models of Apple's iPad. The new pen allowing users a realistic pen-on-paper feel with the ability to rest the palm naturally on the iPad when using compatible creative apps.

The Intuos Creative Stylus is designed for the iPad 3, 4, and iPad Mini, and is compatible with creative apps such as Autodesk SketchBook Pro for iPad, Ambient Design ArtRage, Bamboo Paper, Savage Interactive ProCreate, and Psykopaint. The pen connects with Bluetooth 4.0, and is capable of 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity.

The Intuos Creative Stylus is designed with a brushed aluminium housing in black or blue-black with side-mounted shortcut buttons and an ergonomic flared tip. A thin battery allows the pen to operate for days, according to Wacom. The Creative Stylus comes with a case that holds the stylus, spare battery and two replacement nibs.

The Intuos Creative Stylus will be available at the beginning of October from Best Buy for $99.

Sounds worth a try, and cheaper than a Cintiq, even if I have to upgrade my iPad 4. !

It's still nowhere near as precise as the Jot Touch 4 stylus.
