LG launches retro-style HDTV with rotary dials in South Korea

updated 03:04 pm EDT, Mon August 12, 2013

Volume, channel selection controlled by TV set dials, remote

LG has launched a new HDTV in South Korea with physical dials and retro physical styling. The 32LN630R uses a 32-inch 1080p IPS display offset to the left-hand side to make space for the wood-framed rotary dials, used to change the volume and channel, three function buttons, and a grate-effect speaker panel.

While the nostalgic television has a number of items typically associated with televisions of yesteryear, it still offers a number of features found in modern TV sets. Engadget writes that it offers support for USB devices and MHL video, has HDMI inputs on the back, and is also supplied with a remote control.

The 32LN630R costs 840,000 won ($750) in South Korea, and is supplied with a coffee machine as a launch promotion. There are currently no plans to offer the same design of television in other territories.
