Japan, seven other countries get iTunes in the Cloud for movies

updated 09:22 am EDT, Thu August 8, 2013

Expansion efforts center around Europe

Apple has officially expanded the reach of iTunes in the Cloud movie support to eight more countries. Of these, Japan may be the most prominent, although the other countries are located entirely within Europe. The list includes Austria, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, and Switzerland.

iTunes in the Cloud can be an important lure towards buying movies from Apple. The feature lets people re-download previously-purchased movies to multiple devices, or in case a device fails. For Apple TV owners, the service lets people access their iTunes movie libraries without having to have the files on a local computer or iOS device.
