Adobe rolls out automatic updates to Creative Cloud web tools

updated 12:36 am EDT, Thu August 8, 2013

Edge family of HTML5 tools, PhoneGap Build gain integration, more

Now that it has consolidated its web-development tools under the Creative Cloud banner, Adobe today announced a number of updates that will be automatically rolled into existing software at no additional charge to subscribers. The company says the updates are part of the advantage the Creative Cloud suite gives the company, allowing it to unveil updates as soon as they are available rather than up to two years later. The changes mostly add features to the Edge family of HTML and CSS editing tools, bring integration to selected tools and other programs, and offer some third-party plug-in support and bug features.

Among the changes are multi-page support for Edge Reflow CC; integration between workflow and preview tool Edge Inspect and lightweight HTML/CSS editing tool Edge Code, and integration between both tools and separate color palette generator and coordinator Adobe Kuler, letting users draw from Kuler palettes while coding. The update also fixes some compatibility issues with Edge Animate CC and Internet Explorer 11.

In addition, Adobe announced that third party plug-in support is now available for cloud-based mobile app creation tool PhoneGap Build. The service allows developers to create apps for iOS, Android or BlackBerry devices without downloading the SDKs for each device.

Oh thank you Adobe for being so gracious to add these features at no extra cost. We who rely upon your software are so grateful.
