Basic Netflix multi-user support begins rolling out on Apple TV

MacRumors has reported that the Netflix personalized profile feature has started rolling out to some Apple TV users in a limited capacity. Planned for a full release in August, Netflix user profiles let subscribers create personal viewing accounts complete with customizable avatars and individualized viewing histories. The rollout is currently limited to customers who set up a profile when using the DVD service, but at this time does not include support for altering profiles or adding new users.

Showtime brings live TV streaming to iOS app

Showtime has updated its Showtime Anytime app with new support for watching live television on iOS devices. The app, which already provided access to a host of on-demand content, now lets users access live feeds of both Showtime East and ShowTime West. Showtime Anytime is a free download in the App Store, but requires users to have a subscription to AT&T U-verse, Comcast Xfinity, DirectTV, Optimum or Verizon FiOS in order to access content.
