T-Mobile to launch zero-down promotion on July 27th

updated 11:07 am EDT, Fri July 26, 2013

Deal applies to all devices with monthly payments

Beginning tomorrow, T-Mobile USA will be running a "zero dollars down" promotion for its devices, the carrier has announced. That includes smartphones, tablets, hotspots, and basic feature phones, but buyers will still be expected to pay for a device over the course of two years. An iPhone 5 or a Galaxy Note II, for example, will require 24 payments of $27 per month. Previously the iPhone 5 cost $146 plus 24 payments of $21.

T-Mobile adds that the promotion will run a limited time only, but hasn't said when it will expire. People taking advantage of it can also use the carrier's recently-launched Jump program, which costs $10 per month but covers both insurance and the ability to upgrade a device twice per year -- after an initial six-month wait.
