Briefly: Angry Birds Star Wars II coming in Sept, Kontrol X1 MK2

updated 12:29 pm EDT, Mon July 15, 2013

Angry Birds Star Wars II announced for September launch

Following last week's tease, Rovio has posted a full trailer for its upcoming Angry Birds Star Wars II iOS title. Set to launch worldwide on September 19, the new game expands upon the same physics-based gameplay through the addition of new birds and the option to choose which side of the force to fight for. In addition, the sequel will provide players with a new way to interact with the game thanks to a partnership with Hasbro.

Alongside the game's launch, Hasbro will begin selling 30 different "telepods," which are physical figures of the game's characters. Players will be able to scan these characters into their game using the camera on their iOS device, and then rearrange the lineup of birds available in each level.

Updated Traktor Kontrol X1 coming in August

Native Instruments has announced the upcoming launch of an updated version of its Traktor Kontrol X1, a compact decks and effects controller. New to the MK2 is a multi-purpose touch strip that can be used to control track position, pitch bend, and effects. The touch strip is also accompanied by LED indicators that can help the user track the assigned parameter without having to look at the computer screen. The Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 will be available through the NI Online Shop and authorized retailers for $229 on August 1. A free $50 e-voucher will also be delivered to all customers that register their hardware online.
