MacBook Air owners complain about fluctuating volume

updated 04:33 pm EDT, Fri July 12, 2013

Video levels uncontrollable

Some owners of the 2013 MacBook Air are experiencing problems with uncontrollable volume fluctuations, according to posts on Apple's support forums. The issue typically manifests in first- and third-party apps playing video, including Apple's own QuickTime. Although Apple has yet to provide a fix, third-party sound enhancement apps can potentially keep audio manageable.

The new Air has been beset by several technical issues. These include flaky Wi-Fi connections and flickering graphics in Photoshop. Yesterday's AirPort Utility update may solve Wi-Fi difficulties.
