Apple issues additional fix for OS X Mavericks reboot bugs

updated 11:14 pm EDT, Fri July 12, 2013

New update rolled into DP3 Graphics Update, solves reboot issue

Apple on Friday afternoon has pushed a second update for Developer Preview 3 of OS X Mavericks, the forthcoming major upgrade expected this fall. The company sent out an update yesterday to solve a recovery issue on the new OS, but revised the update today to "Mavericks Preview 3 Graphics Update 1.0" and included additional code to fix a bug on some Mac models where Mavericks would randomly reboot at times. The update is available through the Mac App Store.

The Developer Preview of OS X Mavericks has seen widespread reports of issues and instability as is normal for pre-beta software, and Apple strongly advises developers to test it only on non-production machines due to it being far from ready for consumer use. Mavericks (also known as OS X 10.9) will offer a number of new features, including the long-awaited arrival of iBooks and Maps on the Mac, a redesigned Calendar and Contacts, a new version of Safari, iCloud Keychain, an overhaul of how OS X handles multiple displays, improved Notifications, tabs in the Finder, file tagging and new processor technologies that should extend battery life on notebooks running Mavericks.
