BlackBerry A10 surfaces with mid-range specifications

The second all-touchscreen device from BlackBerry running the company's do or die BlackBerry 10 OS has leaked ahead of its launch. The new A10 is said to center on a much larger 5-inch display than the current 4.2-inch display on the Z10. However, according to the early rumors the A10 may limit resolution to 720p, rather than they 1080p that feature on some competing handsets.

Like the current Z10, the A10 may also continue with a dual-core processor. At this stage it appears that it will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor running Krait architecture and clocked at 1.5GHz. This suggests that it will probably be a Snapdragon 400, which is in many ways a rebranded Snapdragon S4 chip. RAM is thought to be as high as 2GB.

The A10 looks similar to the Z10, but differs in that it features a two-tone black and white bezel. It also apparently resembles a Samsung Galaxy design by those who have seen it in the flesh. When it arrives, it will become the fourth BlackBerry 10 handset and will arrive with a backdrop that saw only 2.7 million BB10 OS phones sold for the past quarter. [via CNET]
