New report buttresses same results found by other analytic firms

Samsung has overtaken Apple globally in terms of Internet usage to take number one spot for the first time in June, according web traffic analytics firm StatCounter. The firm also notes that in the US, Google's browser Chrome overtook Microsoft's Internet Explorer for the first time in June as well.

The report (PDF) released today finds that while 12 months ago, Nokia led globally in terms of Internet usage, Samsung at 25.47 percent has taken a small lead over both Apple -- sitting at 25.09 percent -- and Nokia, falling to 21.96 percent to take the lead in June. In the US and UK however, Apple remains the clear leader.

In June, Chrome took the number one spot in the US at 34.02 percent, up from 23.84 percent 12 months ago. Over the same time frame Internet Explorer declined to 32.46 percent from 40.89 percent.

Apple is losing share by not offering 5-inch phones.
    Insanely blinkered of them.
Much as I love my neat and pocket-friendly iPhone 4S, the iPhone 5 is still too narrow for a lot of real work.
The Sony Xperia Z is what the iPhone 5 should have been.
