updated 10:19 am EDT, Wed July 3, 2013

Series 40 devices have 2.4-inch QVGA displays, 256MB storage

Nokia has revealed a pair of low-cost feature phones, aimed at emerging markets and for those wanting a spare, emergency phone. The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 candybar-style phones will offer basic phone functioinality, with access to the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks over its 3.5G-capable radios.

The two phones use Series 40 as the operating system, making it able to use Nokia's existing catalog of apps for the OS, and have relatively similar base specifications and appearances. Both have a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 64GB of RAM, 256MB of expandable storage, Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, "easy to clean and scratch-proof" cases, and a 1,020mAh battery. While the Nokia 207 does not have a rear camera, the Nokia 208 has one 1.3-megapixel sensor mounted on the back, with the accompanying camera app including a mode where it audibly guides the user on where to point the phone for a self portrait. The 208 will also be available in a dual-SIM version.

The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 will go on sale in the third quarter for 52 euros ($68) in Europe, and will be available in a choice of five different colors.
