High-resolution 4K monitor includes 10-point multitouch, stylus control

Sharp is introducing a new LCD touchscreen monitor with the ability to show 4K-resolution images, following on from its earlier non-touch version. The PN-K322B Ultra HD monitor has an IGZO display panel measuring 32 inches, and is mounted on an adjustable hinge, allowing its 10-point multitouch to be used, as well as its dedicated touch pen with a tip width of just 2mm (0.08 inches).

Housed in a 36mm-thick casing (1.41 inches), the display has an edge-lit LED backlight, giving it a brightness of 300cd/m2, and it is able to show the UHD video at up to 60 frames per second, according to Slashgear. On the back are inputs for DisplayPort, two for HDMI, USB, and an audio line-in, while sound is provided by twin 2-watt speakers and an extra headphone socket.

Sharp did not reveal how much the PN-K322B will cost, but considering its expected production rate of 250 units per month, it is likely to be in the same ballpark as the $3,500 price tag associated with the 31.5-inch Asus PQ321Q UHD monitor. It will be introduced in Japan at the end of July, though the production rate suggests it will not be making the transition to other markets anytime soon.
