Apple begins 2013 Back to School promotion

updated 09:19 am EDT, Tue July 2, 2013

Includes iPhone purchases for first time

Apple has inaugurated its 2013 Back to School promotion in the US. New this year is the ability to get a $50 iTunes/App Store/iBookstore gift card alongside an iPhone purchase; previously, that card amount was limited to people buying iPads. New Mac buyers are still eligible for a $100 gift card.

To qualify for the Back to School promotion a buyer must be a current or newly-accepted student, the parent of a student, or a member of school faculty or staff. Purchases must also be made between today and September 6th, but do include Apple's regular educational discounts on top of the gift card values.

When buying a Mac, the educational discount does indeed apply, in addition to the gift card being given to the customer.
