Android 4.3 reportedly appears on Galaxy S4, keeps Jelly Bean name

Samsung internal test of Android 4.3 allegedly appears on Google Edition phone

The next version of Android has allegedly made an appearance in a test build, according to images in a report. Android 4.3 is shown in a set of screen shots apparently running on a Samsung Galaxy S4, and while the next generation of Android is expected to be called Key Lime Pie, it seems to retain the Jelly Bean moniker.

Images supplied by the source of SamMobile show the build number of the mobile operating system as "JWR66N," with following digits being a Samsung record for internal test builds. The phone model GT-I9505G relates to the Google Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4, which ships with a stock installation of Android rather than one with the Samsung TouchWiz interface, and suggests that it too will gain the version 4.3 update.

If the images are genuine, this puts into doubt the possibility of an Android 5.0 release in October as previously rumored. It was claimed at the time that the Key Lime Pie update would be an "optimized OS" that would work with older models of Android devices with smaller amounts of Ram and storage compared to more modern devices.
