Optimus G replacement may have buttons on back of phone
The successor to the LG Optimus G may have controls on the back of the smartphone, according to some leaked images. Photographs allegedly showing a promotional video for the "LG G2" demonstrate a pair of buttons located just below the camera, which could possibly be used as a volume control or a way to adjust the camera's zoom function.
The shots from the evleaks Twitter account show the odd control placement. Typically the volume buttons are on the side of the phone body, allowing them to be easily pressed while in a call. The move to the back of the device could leave users misplacing their fingers over the camera and accidentally smearing the lens, though controlling the zoom when taking a picture may be more useful in this arrangement.
Earlier rumors suggest that the new device will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 system-on-chip, which is able to reach 2.3GHz, uses four asynchronous cores, uses the Adreno 330 GPU, can play back video at Ultra HD resolution, and can accept LTE connections. An executive at LG mentioned that the new device would be "something different and something unique," but did not go into detail as to what the unique aspects could be.
