Google Earth iOS app gets Street View, better directions

updated 03:54 pm EDT, Wed June 26, 2013

Interface updates with improved search and layer functions

Google has updated the iOS edition of Google Earth to v7.1.1, making a few important changes. The first is the integration of Street View, a feature previously limited to Google Maps. People can access Street View in Earth dragging the appropriate icon onto any blue-lined road; double-tapping moves the view further down a road.

Updated directions tools let users see driving, walking, biking, or public transit directions in 3D. An improved search results list should provide quicker browsing, and a new left-hand panel makes it easier to view or toggle different layers.

Google Earth is a free download, and requires only iOS 4.3 or later.
