Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 spied at FCC for second time with AT&T LTE

updated 11:09 am EDT, Thu June 20, 2013

Support for AT&T LTE bands found in large Samsung smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 could be heading to AT&T, according to details found in an FCC filing. The smartphone with the 6.3-inch display made its send trip to the Commission for clearance, and while in the first instance it was shown to have AT&T-supported HSPA+, this time it is equipped with AT&T 4G LTE bands.

The filing for the SGH-i527, found by Engadget, appears to have no changes to the physical design, and only differs from the earlier visit by having different radios. The smaller Galaxy Mega 5.8 also appears to be absent, making it appear to be heading to AT&T by the carrier's request.

Revealed in April, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 has a 720p LCD display, and is powered by a dual-core 1.7GHz processor with 1.5GB of RAM. On the back is an 8-megapixel camera with a 1.9-megapixel front-facing counterpart, while inside is options for 8GB and 16GB of expandable storage, support for Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and MHL.

The earlier versions shipped in May to Europe and Russia before proceeding into a global release. A possible release date on AT&T, if it will indeed occur, is unknown.
