Case for rumored low-cost iPhone shows thicker size, rounded edges

updated 10:32 am EDT, Tue June 18, 2013

Consistent with recent rumors

A Japanese case maker, MGM Corp., has produced what news site Macotakara claims is a case for the rumored low-cost iPhone. Compared with an equally thin case for the iPhone 5, the new one is said to be 2mm thicker, and use rounded edges instead of flat ones. A rear cutout appears to leave enough space for a camera lens and a flash.

Many of the details of the low-cost iPhone, if it exists, remain ambiguous. It's typically believed that the device will use a plastic back instead of metal and glass, and come in several different colors, instead of either black or white. The product is also expected to sell for $300-400 unlocked, and under $199 when on contract. It could ship as soon as this fall, around the same time as a new flagship iPhone.
