Moto X said to have 720p display as possible specs leak

Moto X said to sport 1.7GHz dual-core processor

Already hinted at last month, Motorola's next big phone now appears to have had its specs leaked before its official unveiling. Regularly reliable Twitter account @evleaks recently tweeted what it says are specs for the Moto X. While the specs are passable, the device doesn't appear to aim for the ultra high-end market, and no new build of Android appears to be in sight.

@evleaks pegs the Moto X at a 1.7GHz dual-core MSM8960 Pro processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Its front camera is said to have a resolution of 2MP, while its rear camera should have a resolution of 10MP. The handset may buck the existing trend toward ultra high-resolution displays, though, as the @evleaks report has the Moto X with only a 720p display.

Notably, the tweet has the Moto X running only Android 4.2.2. Since Google owns Motorola, it has been assumed that any forthcoming phone from the manufacturer would likely be accompanied by a new version of Android. Google, though, has said that it will treat Motorola like any other Android partner, and that the manufacturer would not be receiving early access to Android builds.

@evleaks, while by no means 100 percent accurate, has regularly broken stories on forthcoming devices, including images of forthcoming and even unannounced handsets and tablets.

Initially billed as a game changer, the Moto X was confirmed during May's D11 conference by Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside. The device will be assembled in a Fort Worth, Texas manufacturing plant, and it is due for release in October.
