Canadians can now buy iPads at carriers

Canadian customers of Rogers and Telus will soon be able to pick up LTE-connected versions of Apple's iPad and iPad mini. The two carriers have announced that Wi-Fi + Cellular iPads will be arriving "in the coming weeks," though they've offered no additional details on when to expect them. The emergence of Apple's tablets on the two networks will mark the first time that Canadian customers will have the option to pick up an iPad in a carrier's store.

The two carriers announced their plans in separate posts on their respective sites this week. Both say they will keep offering contract-free data plans.

As Engadget notes, another bit of Canadian Apple news emerged this week, with Wind Mobile acknowledging via Facebook that it would begin carrying nano SIM cards to allow owners of unlocked iPhones to use them on its network. As of Friday, Wind Mobile customers can now purchase a nano SIM for a GSM model A1428*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 4 and 17) versions of the iPhone. The carrier encourages interested customers to go to an Apple retail location and ask for an unlocked AWS version of the handset.

Despite their respective site posts, I've had an Rogers LTE-based iPad 3 for over a year now.
I live right in the core of Toronto - Canada's largest city - and I walked into a store and ordered
it a week after the 3 was announced. It shipped to me directly from Apple with a Rogers SIM.

Oops, Re-read this article and it notes this is for walk-in traffic to purchase on-the-spot at their larger stores.
