Briefy: Google Keyboard for Android, Google search to have image ads

updated 06:43 am EDT, Thu June 6, 2013

Google puts stock Android keyboard on Google Play

Google has added its own keyboard to Google Play. The downloadable Google Keyboard will allow users of Android 4.0 and above to use the same keyboard as used in stock Android, replacing ones used in manufacturer-supplied Android user interfaces. Gesture typing, error correction, word prediction, and voice typing has made the transition, along with dictionaries for 26 languages and accompanying keyboard layouts, according to the Android Google+ page.

Google allowing images into search result advertisements

Advertisements on Google's search page will soon have images. "Image Extensions" will allow advertisers to add photographs or images to Adwords campaigns for its front page, with the Adwords blog stating that the images will appear in cases where Google believes the search by the user is for visual content, which Google states is for more than one in six searches. Opening as a beta, the Image Extensions will be rolling out in English initially, with a view to expanding to other languages in the future.
