Samsung Galaxy S4 Active visits FCC, tipped to use AT&T LTE network

Second Samsung Galaxy phone to pass through FCC in two days

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active has passed through the FCC for certification, just one day after the Galaxy Note 8.0 did the same thing. The federal filing reveals that the ruggedized version of the Samsung flagship smartphone will have LTE connectivity, just like the original, with AT&T likely to be one of the carriers to launch the device.

The S4 Active will work on the 2, 4, 5, and 17 LTE bands, according to Engadget, the same bands as used by AT&T, and the same as those seen during the Note 8.0 filing. It isn't a guarantee that AT&T will stock the device, but there is a good chance it will.

In contrast to the Galaxy S4, the S4 Active has two bumpers on the back for protection from drops, and has received a treatment for water and dust resistance. It has been suggested that its internals have been tuned down from those found in the Galaxy S4, such as lowering the rear camera from a 13-megapixel to an 8-megapixel version.

Samsung may end up showing off the Galaxy S4 Active at its Galaxy and ATIV launch event, which is being held in London on June 10th.
