New playback mode allows listening to series of old episodes
Podcast and radio streaming service Stitcher has released an important update of its iOS app, v5.3.0. The major addition is a selectable Car Mode for the iPhone, which brings up a simplified interface. The mode works in both portrait and landscape views.
All versions of the app have been given a redesigned front page, as well as an improved search function, which should provide quicker access to shows. When listening to older episodes of a podcast, users now have the option of playing several episodes in a row with either new-to-old or old-to-new progression. The direction can be switched by tapping a playlist order button after selecting Playing Next.
Sleep timer access has been folded into the equalizer menu in the player screen. Other changes include a new wizard for first-time users, and better performance, including faster playback start when resuming shows.
Stitcher is a free download for devices running iOS 5 or later.
