Leaked image on Twitter shows touchscreen, range of colors
A Nokia smartphone being revealed in New Delhi tomorrow has allegedly been uncovered in a leak earlier than the manufacturer intended. A photograph showing a stack of phones, claimed to be the Asha 501, with the range of device casings matching the "add some color" statement made on an official Nokia blog post for the event.
The image on the @evleaks Twitter account shows it will be available with red, blue, yellow, green, white, or black edging, and appears to be a relatively simple touchscreen device. Other rumors suggest it will have a 1GHz processor, and a display that's slightly larger than the 3-inch version seen on the Asha 311.
Considering the recent reveal of the Asha 210 and the venue of the event, the Asha 501 could also be an entry-level smartphone aimed at emerging markets. The Asha 210 provides a 2-megapixel camera, a voice guide for self portraits, onboard image editing , and YouTube streaming in a device that will retail for around $72, with the Asha 501 likely to take on a number of these aspects.
