Dead pixels, blown usb ports and more

Yesterday in the MacNN forums, members tried to help one concerned Fresh-Faced Recruit figure out reasons why white and black lines might show up across the screen of their iPhone 3GS. Also yesterday, one Forum Regular was having some trouble with a flickering external monitor attached to their 15-inch rMBP with a mini-display port cable, and they turned to the forums for some advice.

Clinically Insane member "besson3c" blew out one of the USB ports on their MBP, and they were wondering if it would be possible to replace it without swapping the motherboard. Earlier this week, Mac Elite "PB2K" was trying to figure out a way to install Lion onto a brand new 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, but is having some difficulty. A discussion about setting up a Mac keyboard to type Hiragana can be found in the thread titled "How do I type Hiragana on my MacBook Pro?" which was posted a few days ago.
