Carries over features of mobile apps
VoIP service Viber has released new Mac and Windows versions of its client software. Previously the app was only available for mobile platforms, such as iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone. The Desktop software incorporates all the features of the iOS app, such as instant messaging, contact sync, group chats, and shared histories.
A notable feature of Viber is the ability to start a call on one platform and then carry it over to another. Like the mobile apps, the Mac and Windows clients are free downloads; the Mac edition requires OS X 10.7 or later. Calling and messaging are also free.
