Mozilla updates Firefox OS simulator to 3.0, adds rotation, geolocation

Mozilla has rolled out a new version of its Firefox OS simulator, in order to help with application development. The emulator update to version 3.0, surfacing just after the first developer devices started shipping, adds a number of features, including rotation simulation, basic simulation of a geolocation API, newer versions of the Firefox rendering engine and Gaia UI, Push to Device, and a number of other bug fixes. The simulator is available to download as a Firefox desktop browser extension.

Sky experiments with on-demand show premieres before broadcast

British broadcaster Sky is debuting a number of shows through its on-demand services, up to a week before they are broadcast. New seasons of Hannibal, Mad Dogs, and The Borgias will have their first episodes shown in advance through the Sky Go streaming service and Sky+ boxes with on-demand capabilities. Sky has also revealed that it has received 1.4 million requests to view the first two seasons of Game of Thrones since they were made available at no charge to subscribers through the on-demand service one month ago, according to Pocket Lint.
