Pinnacle Studio gains new speed controls

The iPad version of Corel's Pinnacle Studio has undergone a major update that introduces a brand new speed control. Tapping on the speed button will allow users to adjust the speed of any video clip, while pinch gestures can be used to actively speed up or slow down playback. Users can also add a freeze effect with a single click, as well as use a single finger swipe in the speed control for roll trimming. Other enhancements include faster rendering, simplified audio editing, and the ability to initiate renders directly form the preview message. Pinnacle Studio 3 is available in the App Store for $13.

Songza update lets users search for situation specific music by shaking device

Songza has launched an updated version of its free music streaming app for iOS devices. New to this release is a playlist selection feature that is enabled whenever a user shakes their device. After activating the feature users are prompted to type in what they are currently up to, and Songza will then provide a selection of playlists it thinks are appropriate for the situation. The update has also improved the way searching for favorite artists works. Now, when searching for a band or musician users will be presented with a list of every playlist that features that act, all of which will begin with a song by the desired artist.
