updated 09:08 pm EDT, Tue April 23, 2013

New model supplements original with 128GB

Storage solutions manufacturer Akitio today announced the release of the company's new 256GB one-bay, bus-powered "Neutrino" Thunderbolt storage solution. Akitio's new larger-capacity device is a follow-up to the company's successful 120GB SSD solution, which was previously launched in 2012.

By incorporating a Thunderbolt connection with an SSD and a high performance SATA controller, Akitio is able to obtain data transfer speeds of up to 464MB per second, making it what the company calls the "fastest one-bay, bus-powered external storage device on the market." The Neutrino comes bundled with a Thunderbolt cable.

Akitio's 256 GB Neutrino Thunderbolt Edition is available for purchase at an retail price of $340 and up (depending on configuration) and can be found at Akitio.com, as well as major retailers.

Look, serious professionals are not into buying SSDs included in an enclosure. Provide an empty enclosure please.
