Photos depict alleged fifth-gen iPad shell, iPhone 5S SIM tray

Still no other signs of new iPad going into production

Two new parts from forthcoming Apple products have been leaked, accounts claim. Tactus says it has obtained a photo of a rear shell for the fifth-generation iPad. The part is consistent with a shell revealed in January, and suggests that the tablet will take after the iPad mini, using slimmer side bezels to cut down on size and weight. The Mini's design tack is possible because of palm detection code built into recent versions of iOS.

A Japanese parts store, Moumantai, says it has obtained new nano-SIM trays for the iPhone 5S. The source and authenticity of the trays is questionable, since they're similar in design to trays for the iPhone 5, and appear in gray and gold colors, despite Apple only selling the 5 in silver and black. They could simply be third-party trays built for the 5 or what vendors assume will be the specifications for the 5S.

The iPad leak, at least, may indicate that Apple is gearing up for new hardware production. Parts leaks typically emerge a few months before an Apple device begins rolling off assembly lines, and then Apple will sometimes wait a full month or more to make an announcement.
