Apple adds 'Later' option for larger iTunes downloads

updated 03:58 pm EDT, Mon April 22, 2013

Puts items in Purchased queue for later access

Apple has quietly added a "Later" option for iTunes downloads, reports say. The feature appears in both iTunes 11 and iOS 6, and lets people buy larger files without immediately downloading them. Items then show up in the Purchased section of a person's iTunes account, where they can then be downloaded when a reliable Internet connection is available.

Some restrictions apply, mainly that purchases must be made in a country with iTunes in the Cloud support. Content types are also limited. These include movies, TV show episodes and seasons, and box sets of music. This excludes individual songs, albums, and music videos, as well as apps and books.
