Adobe teases Shake Reduction feature for Photoshop

updated 12:57 pm EDT, Thu April 18, 2013

More promised at Adobe MAX conference

Adobe has posted a brief teaser video for an upcoming Photoshop feature, Shake Reduction. The option will allow people to globally or selectively reduce the blur created by factors like camera shake and/or slow shutter speeds. Adobe hasn't said when the technology will be integrated into Photoshop, but as with other recent changes, it will probably be offered to Creative Cloud subscribers first.

The company is promising to demonstrate Shake Reduction and other upgrades at Adobe MAX, a conference scheduled for May 4th through the 8th in Los Angeles. Registrations for online access to the conference keynotes are still open, and some floor passes should be available as well.

If this feature works as well as the preview demonstrates, this could be one of the biggest reasons for updating Photoshop. I've been using Photoshop since version 2.5 (20 years ago). I know it backwards and forwards as I am a graphic designer, and have kept up with the significant upgrades throughout the years. This feels as big as the introduction of Layers!
