Asus Qube marks first Google TV device for Taiwanese PC maker

Asus' first foray into the Google TV space, the Qube, is set to debut on April 23, reports GTVSource. The Qube first appeared at CES 2013 and is a relatively diminutive device that offers the full interactive Google TV experience. It ships with a complex remote control that includes a full-QWERTY keyboard found on the rear side, a microphone for voice control and gyroscope, although it can also be controlled using tailored software for the Nexus 7.

The Qube is powered by an ARMADA 1500 processor matched with 1GB of RAM and includes just 4GB for storing additional Google TV apps, which are typically not large in size. Asus is, however, also including 50GB of free cloud storage with the device, to allow users to stream their content in addition to live streaming content from apps like HBOGo, Crackle, Pandora, Amazon, Google Play and Netflix. Asus has also customized the Google TV OS 3.0 interface with a custom UI that features a rotating 3 dimensional cube, as seen in the video embedded below.

The Asus Qube will retail for $129 in the US, with availability in other select regions to follow its launch stateside.
