Twitter for iOS gets support for app installation features

updated 04:05 pm EDT, Wed April 3, 2013

Takes advantage of recent Cards changes

Social network Twitter has released a new version of its iOS app, v5.5. The update reflects recent changes to the Cards system, and lets people install or launch apps from links embedded in tweets. Although not all apps are being supported initially, people can, for instance, tap a link in a tweet from Path to go to the app's App Store page. If an app is already installed, the link may open up content there.

Other changes to the app are minimal. Launch and general performance should be faster, and in tweet details, "retweeted by" is now selectable. Bugfixes deal with reply-to-self in conversations and trouble undoing retweets.
