Google brings Quickoffice for iPhone, Android to business users

updated 05:31 pm EDT, Tue April 2, 2013

iOS update improves Drive functions

Google has brought Quickoffice to the iPhone and Android devices for Apps for Business customers. Quickoffice lets users work with Microsoft Office files; previously, Apps for Business subscribers were limited to using an iPad app. The new releases still require an Apps for Business account, but are otherwise free downloads.

The iPhone app is actually a universal update of the iPad code, and includes some improved hooks with Google Drive. Going to the Drive folders view should now show Shared With Me, Starred, and Recent tabs, as well as any subfolders. Also new is support for multiple Drive accounts, better chart rendering in Quicksheet and Quickpoint, and the ability to create and share ZIP folders from multiple files.
