AT&T lands exclusive access to 64GB HTC One

updated 10:46 pm EDT, Sat March 30, 2013

High-capacity HTC One to be ATT exclusive

HTC One enthusiasts looking for a higher-capacity model of the HTC One can now start planning on their upgrades or path to hop carriers, as AT&T has announced that it will be exclusively carrying the 64GB model of HTC's forthcoming flagship. The announcement came Saturday in a video posting to the carrier's YouTube page. AT&T will also be carrying the 32GB version of the One.

AT&T's video gives no details on an exact launch date for the forthcoming HTC flagship. The most specific details available so far (via Engadet) give "April" as a launch window. This conforms to prior reports regarding the US launch for the smartphone.

The One's arrival on American shores will come after a substantial delay brought on by the parts and component sourcing necessary for the device. The delay is said to stem in part from HTC's choice to go with a premium build quality for the One, which is thought to be a considerable bet for the company. iFixit subjected the One to a teardown, finding that it is very difficult to disassemble for repair due to its construction.

Electronista went hands-on with the One at its late-February unveiling. We found the build quality to be superb, with the One feeling like a high-end smartphone should. We were also impressed with the quality of the One's built-in camera, though we would have liked to have seen a pure Android experience instead of HTC's Sense overlay.
