updated 07:02 am EDT, Tue March 26, 2013

Connectivity via 3G snubbed, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi only

Google is gearing up to ship a version of its premium Chromebook Pixel notebook with 4G LTE connectivity. Sporting the same feature set as its Wi-Fi counterpart, the LTE model will come bundled with 100MB of bandwidth per month for two years over Verizon Wireless, as well as offering the Wi-Fi connectivity and 12 free sessions of GoGo in-flight Internet access.

The Chromebook Pixel has a 12.85-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 2560x1700, at a 3:2 aspect ratio claimed to be designed for easier web use. Powered by a dual-core Intel Core i5 processor running at 1.8GHz with 4GB of RAM and integrated Intel graphics, the internal 64GB SSD is supported by one terabyte of Google Drive storage. An integrated 720p webcam, Bluetooth 3.0, two USB 2.0 ports, mini display port, SD card reader and a 59Wh battery are also included in the Chrome OS device.

While this iteration is set to ship with a built-in LTE modem, ZDNet has confirmed with Google that it will not have any 3G connectivity, forcing users into using either 4G or Wi-Fi with no middle ground.

Google is shipping the Chromebook Pixel with 4G LTE by April 8th, with Google Play store pricing it at $1,450.
