iPhone app folds in Snapseed features

(Updated with iPad info) Google has updated the iOS and Android Google+ apps with a number of new features and improvements. The iPhone interface in particular now sports basic editing tools carried over from Snapseed, such as cropping, rotation, and Instagram-style photo filters. Brightness, contrast, and saturation can be controlled through gestures, and tapping an image lets people compare an altered photo with the original.

In both the iPhone and Android apps users can now throttle the amount of community posts in the Home stream, invite people to a community, or reshare content to one. Community managers can search for members and moderate content, including issuing reports, removals, and bans.

Profiles can optionally be set to display a person's current location. Users can choose which groups will see location info; turning location-sharing on, however, currently requires going through the web or Android apps. The toggle is missing in iOS.

Some changes specific to the Android app affect posting. Posts there will now show more text up front, from both the original post and comments, and tapping on a link, photo, or video should bring a person straight to a viewing window. Image previews are less frequently cropped, and albums newly support inline browsing. In terms of layout, buttons for actions like +1 and resharing are more visible.

Update: Notes for the iPad interface also mention the photo editing tools. In general the iOS app also includes a new profile design, notifications tray, and setup flow, plus the ability to filter searches by chronological or "best" results.
