Runware hits market with Runalyzer blue heart rate monitor

updated 07:39 pm EDT, Mon March 25, 2013

Bluetooth device uses short range protocol to preserve battery life

Smartphone accessory and sensor maker Runware has launched the Runalyzer Blue chest strap for the iPhone. The Bluetooth-based Runalyzer Blue works with more than 100 applications such as 321Run, iSmoothrun, Endomodo, RunKeeper and Runtastic, amongst others. The device is optimized for walking, running, cycling, mountain biking, roller-skating, as well as alpine and Nordic skiing.

The Runalyzer Blue runs for up to 18 months with a single battery on a daily-use basis, thanks to the low-power Bluetooth 4.0 implementation. The device estimates caloriic and body fat loss in real time, measures day-after-day benefits of workouts on the heart and body, and will optimize workouts according to abilities and goals.

The new Runalyzer Blue belt is compatible with Bluetooth 4.0 Smart products, such as the iPhone 4s and 5. No additional heart rate monitor is required. The Runalyzer Blue belt kit retails for $74. Runware sport armbands are priced from $24.
