    High-end Mac Pros...

are rather pricey but after all, those high-end Intel processors are unbelievably expensive. A couple of those six-core processors make up more than half the cost of the Mac Pro. I'd sure like to have one of those Mac Pros, but I really don't have a need for one nor can I justify a $5000+ computer merely for personal use no matter how well it runs. I do a fair amount of personal video encoding, but what I do can be left overnight to do and I'm not up against a time schedule. The top iMac i7 3.4 GHZ is more than than satisfactory for my needs.
