Marvel Unlimited brings subscription Marvel comics to iOS

Fixes long-standing complaint

Marvel has launched a new app for the iPhone and iPad, Marvel Unlimited. Unlike the publisher's main iOS app, the new one finally allows access to comics tied to Marvel's subscription options, which have likewise been renamed under the Unlimited moniker. Signing up currently grants access to over 13,000 comics, some dating as far back as 70 years; the most recent comics, though, date back six months.

A subscription costs $10 per month, or $60 per year. A free trial is also available. Readers must subscribe through the Marvel website, though, as the company has chosen to avoid in-app purchases, from which Apple takes a 30 percent cut. One perk of the app is that up to six comics can be saved for offline reading when not on a Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
