Allows export to HTML5, video
Smith Micro has released MotionArtist, a new animation tool. The software is primarily oriented around motion comics, allowing users to break content up into different panels, or insert word balloons and text. It can also be used for more general purposes though, such as animated presentations.
The app attempts to simplify common animation tasks, for instance automating object placement and camera movements. It also supports features such as GPU acceleration, audio, video, and Photoshop import, and parallax effects courtesy of 3D layering. Finished projects can be exported as video or HTML5 files, and optionally shared to YouTube or Facebook.
MotionArtist is being priced at $50 until March 21st, after which the cost will go up to $60. Mac and Windows versions are available; the Mac app requires OS X 10.6.8 or later and 500MB of hard drive space.
