Macintosh open beta available for League of Legends

updated 02:33 pm EST, Fri March 1, 2013

Client has been in closed beta since 2011, developer seeks input

Popular multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends is available today in open beta as a native Macintosh OS X client. The beta provides the same service, including all features, bug fixes, and new content made available in parallel with the Windows client. The public beta is available now, with the developer requesting feedback to "craft the best experience possible on the new platform."

The beta version requires OS X 10.5.8 or greater, an Intel Core Duo processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 7300GT graphics processor or greater, thus excluding Intel Integrated graphics chipsets. The company recommends OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard or greater, and 256MB of Video RAM with a discrete video processor.
