Nokia starts Music+ subscription service in US for Lumia phones

Nokia has started up its Music+ subscription service in the United States, after launching in other territories in January. The subscription, costing $4 per month, expands on the existing free Mix Radio service on Lumia devices by offering an unlimited number of track skips for mixes, and allowing for downloads of multiple mixes. The audio quality is said to be eight times that of the free tier, and provides the option of allowing higher-quality streams to be played over a Wi-Fi connection compared to a lower quality over a mobile network.

A 3D printing pen has exceeded its Kickstarter target by a wide margin in its first day. The 3Doodler, a cross between a pen and a 3D printer that allows for freehand creation of objects using ABS plastic, raised its $30,000 target within hours of starting its Kickstarter campaign. At the time of writing, the 3Doodler has passed $743,000 in pledges, and has 32 days left to run.

Wordpress offers simplified website creation for educational users

Blogging platform Wordpress has started offering students and teachers a way to make websites for educational purposes. The new initiative aims to promote the hosted content management system for education-based uses, and also includes a new theme titled Chalkboard that will be offered alongside other similarly-themed designs. Wordpress hopes that students will use it to organize projects, and for teachers to inform parents about school activities, with the option to password individual pages being shown as a way to protect student data from an unwanted audience. Site creation is free, though Wordpress offers a number of paid-for upgrades, including file storage and custom designs.
