Stylistic S01 includes simplified menus, call assists

Fujitsu and Orange have agreed to offer Fujitsu smartphones to customers in France, with initial handsets being targeted at senior users. The first offering will be the Stylistic S01, a mid-ranged 4-inch Android 4.0 smartphone based heavily on the Fujitsu Raku Raku, one that is focused on helping elderly users communicate.

A number of features from the Raku Raku directly transfer over to the Stylistic S01, including the extra-large icons, simplified layout, and a touchscreen that requires the same level of pressure to activate on-screen icons as a physical button on a keypad would, in an effort to avoid spurious inputs. It will also optimize the audio frequency range based on a user's age to make it easier for older users to listen to conversations, while another function will slow down the speech of callers without altering the pitch.

The Stylistic S01's display will render an 800x480 image, and contains a Qualcomm MSM8255 processor running at 1.4GHz, 4GB of storage expandable by microSD, a rear 8.1MP camera with a 0.3MP counterpart, a 1,800mAh battery, and water and dust resistance to IPX5/8 and IP5X levels.

Orange hopes to put the first Stylistic handsets on sale in France by June, though a price has not been provided.
