LG Optimus G Pro, 5.5-inch display, 400ppi, Snapdragon 600

After giving its latest flagship smartphone an official reveal for the Korean market, LG has announced that the Optimus G Pro will be will be headed to the US market in Q2. The 5.5-inch 'phablet will also be the first smartphone to feature Qualcomm's new quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, which incorporates a range of architectural enhancements over the Snapdragon S4 Pro chip. The new chip also brings with it an enhanced Adreno 320 GPU, for better graphics performance.

LG also developed the Optimus G Pro with subsidiary LG Display, which has yielded a high pixel density of 400 pixels per inch, despite it its large 5.5-inch display size. Viewing angles and color accuracy should also be strong thanks to the ultilization of IPS, while it supports a native 1080p resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. To help keep the display powered for a full day, LG has integrated a large capacity 3,140mAh battery into the device.

LG has also developed a new UI running over its Android 4.1.2 'Jelly Bean' basis. Some of the tweaks include Dual Recording that allows the device to record from both front and rear cameras displayed simultaneously via a picture-in-picture mode. A new VR Panorama function allows the Optimus G Pro to shoot entire horizontal and vertical environments for a full 360-degree view. An upgraded QSlide, Live Zooming and QuickMemo have also been added.

We will be getting our hands on the Optimus G Pro at Mobile World Congress, which starts this weekend.
