LG Optimus G Pro headed to South Korea with quad-core CPU

LG has made its Optimus G Pro for South Korea official, with the device set to reach users by the end of the month. The Optimus G Pro differs from the 5-inch version recently unveiled for the Japanese market in its screen size only, with its cutting edge internal components carrying over. LG is also touting the curved glass on the new handset, which it says creates a '2.5G' effect, which we will be keen to examine at Mobile World Congress first hand.

The device runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.7GHz, slightly higher than the 4.7-inch Optimus G and LG Nexus 4. It is expected to pack in battery with at least 3,000mAh, which will help to keep its large 1080p display powered for a full day as well as support its LTE radio. The rear camera incorporates a 13.2-megapixels with a 2.4-megapixel camera in the front. RAM is set at 2GB while onboard storage should be around 32GB with support for microSD expansion.

LG has yet to comment on whether the device will reach an International audience, although it seems likely given the success of Samsung's 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2. However, LG has opted not to include a stylus with the Optimus G Pro, instead emphasising the ability for users to make handwritten notes with their finger tips with the included notes app. [via Engadget]
