Google enables notifications in Windows Chromium browser

Google Now notification integration into Chrome now closer

Google may be adding Google Now integration into its Chrome browser in the near future. A notification center has been added to the company's latest build of Windows Chromium, giving developers a chance to add Chrome notifications to their applications, as well as being an ideal platform for the Google Now cards that were hinted at in December.

An option to "Enable Rich Notifications" within chrome://flags was found by François Beaufort, which then allows notifications generated by a Chrome extension or HTML5 coding to generate the cards. The notifications box itself includes an option to ammend notification settings, and to clear all stacked notifications as well.

Adding Google Now to Chrome will allow the predictive digital assistant to work on desktops as well as on phones, giving users the ability to be notified of upcoming events from the computer screen. Aside from weather forecasts, birthday reminders, and appointment reminders, Google Now was updated in December to display boarding passes for flights if they are in Gmail.
